Why I Started Instant Arẹ̀wà Hair
For years, I took painkillers so my hair could look beautiful.
I loved micro twists and always asked for them small. I would sit for hours, leave with my scalp throbbing, take something for the pain, and go to bed happy because, pulled into a ponytail, those twists were stunning.
I have always had long, thick hair. So when a friend asked whether I was worried about my edges, I remember thinking:
My hair always grows back.
The rest of my hair kept growing. My edges did not. It happened slowly, while I was busy admiring the style.
By 2012, after years of tight styles, my hairline had thinned and was no longer filling in. It had a name: traction alopecia.
I still loved braided styles. I simply could not keep asking my own hair to carry them.
So, in 2018, I had a glueless micro-twist wig made for myself. I could have the style I loved without braiding my own hair.
Women at work and church kept asking:
Where can I get one?
That question became Instant Arẹ̀wà Hair.
Today, every braided unit is made by hand and quality-checked in Lagos, then inspected again in Michigan before it reaches you. More than 3,000 wigs and 416 reviews later, the mission has not changed: beautiful styles without paying for them with your hairline or your Saturday.
